Body Awareness, Clothes, Getting Dressed
0-6 Months:

- Clothes
Great book to help children learn words of the different clothing items. Each page is a colorful picture of a new clothing item.

- Noses are Not for Picking by Elizabeth Verdick This is a great book about all of the different things that noses are able to do, and how they should not be picked. This is a great diverse book that features a lot of different children. This would be a great book to start teaching about different body parts and how they work.
6-12 Months:
- Let’s Get Dressed by Caroline Jayne Church (Not available at Ames Public Library)
This is a cute board book that teaches children how to get dressed, step by step. Also, includes oversized flaps that would be fun for young children to move. This would be a wonderful book for when children are learning what different clothing items are, and how to wear them.
- Eyes, Nose, Fingers, and Toes by Judy Hindley
- Look at You! A Baby Body Book by Kathy Henderson
In this adorable book, different body parts are described and how they work. This would be a perfect book to teach baby the different body parts, and would be perfect to interact with outside of the book as well
12-24 Months:

- My Big Boy Undies by Karen Katz
Story about young boy transitioning from wearing diapers to wearing “big-boy undies”. Describes where he wears his undies, but that sometimes accidents happen, so he puts on new ones. This would be a great book for children who are beginning potty training.
- I Can Do It Myself by Stephen Krensky
Story about a young girl becoming a little more independent, and being able to dress herself, feed herself, blowing her own nose, etc. This book would be great for children starting to become semi-independent
- Big Girl Panties by Fran Manushkin
