You’ve heard about Jack Trice and George Washington Carver, but do you know about Walter Madison and Willa Ewing?

Join us for a fascinating presentation about Ames History Museum's project to share their stories.

In March 2021, Ames History Museum (AHM) installed a colorful and informative vinyl mural on the side of the museum building featuring nine African American individuals from Ames history – some well-known and some not so well-known. The mural is the result of a collaboration between AHM and the Graphic Design Social Club at Iowa State University.

In this history talk, AHM’s exhibits manager, Alex Fejfar, will share the history of some of the featured individuals. The mural designers, Helen Barton, Darbi Shaw, and Alex Braidwood, will also share more about the mural design process.
