Topic: A Ride on the Dinkey

Speaker: Kathy Svec assisted by Dennis Wendell, Museum volunteer with emeritus staff member

The Dinkey was the small-scale train that carried passengers, mail, freight and building materials between downtown Ames and Iowa Agricultural College for sixteen years, 1891-1907, a period of rapid growth by both entities.

The lecture will provide some background and a scenic tour of what a passenger might have seen out of the windows on their journey – AND - how the Dinkey relates to the upcoming Museum expansion and a planned permanent exhibit.
