Topic — Violence and Justice in the American Southwest

Speaker — Brian Behnken

In the early twentieth century United States Southwest, police agencies and the U.S. military and lynch mobs murdered, massacred, and terrorized Mexicans and Mexican Americans across the region.

This talk uncovers that violent history and ties it into problematic policing in the Southwest today.
