Topic — Isolating the Enemy: Diplomatic Strategy in China and the United States, 1953-1956

Speaker — Tao Wang

Description: In the mid-1950s China and the United States tried to isolate each other internationally. As this talk by Tao Wang shows, Washington often overestimated Beijing’s aggressiveness while Chinese leaders convinced U.S. allies and neutral countries to pressure Washington to make concessions on areas of mutual concern.
